In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. Your expertise in medical office procedures, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and health information management will ensure smooth clinic operations and a positive patient experience. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a welcoming environment at the front desk. Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software and coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily patient flow. Verify patient insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical billing and collections accurately. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to maintain up-to-date patient documentation. Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, including care plans and clinical notes, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality policies. Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding for billing purposes, and ensure proper documentation review. Answer phone calls promptly with professional phone etiquette; address patient inquiries regarding appointments, billing, or health insurance details. Maintain organized medical records and files while adhering to health information management standards. Support clinical staff by performing clerical duties such as data entry, filing, typing (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies. Stay informed about health insurance policies like Medicare and Medicaid to assist patients effectively. Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role within a clinical setting. Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone communication and phone etiquette. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with strong computer skills for documentation review and data entry tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and medical billing processes. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Bilingual abilities are highly preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Clinic experience or healthcare office experience is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate.
