Job Description

Overview We are seeking a Unit Secretary, also referred to as a Unit Clerk, Clinical Unit Secretary or Medical Unit Secretary. A Unit Secretary provides indirect patient care by managing departmental communications, organizing records, transcribing physician orders when needed, and ensuring charts, logs, and electronic records are accurate and complete. They support the Perinatal Unit by coordinating with physicians and departments, ordering supplies, restocking rooms after transfers or discharges, and assisting nursing staff with non-clinical tasks. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Competitive compensation Medical insurance benefit plan 401K Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Provide indirect patient care by assisting with departmental organization, communication needs, and coordination between staff, physicians, and patients Enter and transcribe physician orders (in the absence of CPOE) with proper nursing notation and signature Prepare, compile, and maintain patient records, charts, logbook entries, and documentation for the Perinatal Unit Order supplies and forms for the unit, and assist nursing staff with restocking patient rooms after transfers or discharges Accurately enter data into hospital computer systems and the QS Electronic Medical Record system while supporting nursing staff with indirect care tasks Qualifications Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers.
You must have:
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience required for all new hires, effective April 2014. 2. Medical terminology preferred. 3. Current BLS certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current. 4. Experience using computers for word processing, database management preferred.
