About Our Practice We are a thriving, patient-centered pediatric private practice serving the greater Richmond area for over 55 years. Our mission is to provide compassionate, high-quality care to infants, children, and adolescents. We pride ourselves on creating a warm, supportive environment where children feel safe and parents feel heard. Position Summary We are looking for an enthusiastic, patient-focused Medical Receptionist to be a part of the first point of contact team for our patients and their families. The ideal candidate is energetic, highly organized, and skilled at creating a calm, comforting, and HIPAA-compliant environment in a busy pediatric setting. Key Responsibilities Greet children and parents warmly upon arrival, manage the check-in/check-out process, and monitor the waiting room to ensure a smooth patient flow. Answer multi-line phones, schedule and confirm appointments, update electronic medical records (EMR), route incoming messages/requests appropriately and manage incoming mail or faxes. Verify patient health insurance for updates and collect payments securely. Assist parents with intake forms, answer routine questions with empathy, and help soothe anxious children or families.
Qualifications & Skills Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of front desk, customer service, or medical office experience required. Experience with EMR systems and/or Pediatrics is preferred.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional communication, patience, and a friendly, positive demeanor when interacting with children and stressed parents.
Compliance:
Strict adherence to patient privacy and HIPAA guidelines.
Technical Skills:
Comfortable using multi-line phone systems, computers, and office equipment (scanners, printers).
Location:
Ability to work in either of our 2 locations (West End Richmond and Mechanicsville).
