Medical Receptionist

Job Description

A well established OB/GYN clinic is looking for a part time medical receptionist. The individual must be organized, detail-oriented, and a multi-tasker. Strong customer service and communication skills required. Experience in medical office and some college is preferred. Core Responsibilities and Duties Patient greeting and check-in: Welcoming patients warmly, confirming identity, handing out intake paperwork if necessary.
Appointment scheduling:
Booking routine annual exams, prenatal checkups, and urgent follow-ups while managing provider calendars.
Insurance verification:
Checking patient coverage, explaining benefits, and processing co-pays or outstanding balances.
Telephone management:
Answering multi-line phones, fielding patient questions, and routing clinical messages securely.
Record maintenance:
Updating demographic files and scanning documents into electronic health record systems.
Essential Skills Medical terminology:
Understanding basic obstetrical and gynecological terms to speak correctly with MAs, nurses, and providers.
Software proficiency:
Navigating electronic health records (EHR) and digital scheduling platforms.
Financial processing:
Handling cash drawers, credit card terminals, and basic medical billing questions.
Privacy compliance:
Strictly following HIPAA guidelines to protect sensitive patient records and personal health data.
Empathy and patience:
Remaining calm, kind, and supportive with patients who may feel anxious or vulnerable.
Multitasking ability:
Juggling incoming phone calls, front-desk arrivals, and doctor requests smoothly during busy hours.
Discretion and professionalism:
Maintaining absolute confidentiality regarding reproductive health, pregnancies, and medical histories.
Conflict resolution:
De-escalating tense situations with upset or waiting patients with a respectful tone. Must be fully vaccinated against Tdap, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, and potentially more

$20.00 - $26.00 per hour
