Handles scheduling of clinic appointments and procedures, both in person and over the telephone, including validating eligibility and registering patients. Position requires standing for long periods of time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Verify insurance; check patient eligibility, effective date, and co-pays Register patients and direct them to appropriate areas Maintain and coordinate physician/patient schedules and appointments Answer incoming phone calls in a courteous manner and take messages for nursing staff when needed Create new patient charts and health history Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills required Interact effectively with clinic patients, physicians, nurses, and other WHF and outside agency employees Able to handle multiple job functions and prioritize job responsibilities Ability to handle multiple tasks and interruptions Ability to utilize the clinic's computer scheduling program Demonstrate an understanding of the legal implications and responsibilities related to the medical care of the patient Expand job-related knowledge and skills to improve performance and adjust to change Use interpersonal skills effectively to build and maintain cooperative working relationships Ability to remain on feet throughout the day Follow policy and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the department Ability to work flexible hours, which include 7a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday Responsible for opening clinic and securing at closing when instructed to do so

Phones:
Answers incoming calls to medical departments and scheduling appointments for 40+ physicians Call reminders: Call patients to remind them of their appointment. Prepare to reschedule if needed Schedule outside testing: CT, US/colonoscopy, EGD, etc per physician request. Schedule testing, obtain written orders and obtain results
Referrals:
Schedule patient appointments, make sure referrals are in place prior to appointment, explain referral policy to patients, log all OP procedures and referrals
Physicians:
- Check for follow up appointments, request charts, schedule follow up appointments, call physician we refer to for WHF physician to speak with on the phone regarding patients
Experience & Education Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Basic computer skills. Bilingual is a plus. Previous medical reception experience preferred, but not necessary.

Team player. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work under pressure situations and remain calm when dealing with patients/members.
