July 2025 Job Summary The Medical Scribe plays a vital role in supporting Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) providers by accurately documenting patient encounters in real-time. Working closely with physicians and other clinical staff, the scribe ensures thorough and timely completion of electronic medical records (EMRs) to optimize clinic flow and provider efficiency. This position requires a strong understanding of obstetric and maternal-fetal medical terminology, attention to detail, and the ability to always maintain patient confidentiality. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume specialty environment. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-past environment while providing excellent care for our patients. Duties/Responsibilities Accurately document patient histories, exam findings, assessments, ultrasounds, and care plans during provider-patient interactions. Prepare and maintain thorough, up-to-date charts in the EMR, including HPI, ROS, A&P, and procedure notes. Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and completed in real time or shortly after the visit. Assist providers in pre-visit preparation by reviewing prior records, labs, imaging, and maternal histories. Coordinate with ultrasound techs and nursing staff to capture complete clinical information during diagnostic or procedural visits. Maintain awareness of high-risk pregnancy indicators and terminology used in perinatology care. Ensure all records are submitted for provider review and signature promptly. Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies. Ensure provider tasks and buckets within EMR are followed up on timely Required Skills/Abilities Excellent Customer Service Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Education /Experience High School Diploma or GED Associates degree preferred Minimum 3 years required, with OB/GYN preferred Experience with EMR system, Athena knowledge a plus Physical Requirements Must be able to walk and stand for extended intervals This job description is not intended to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
