Position Summary:

Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis of deficiencies on Inpatient/SDS/GI/OBT discharged records according to PGH Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, JCAHO standards, and regulatory/licensure requirements. In order to allow for timely completion of the medical record, the Chart Deficiency Analyst will review each discharged patient's record for incomplete or missing items, identify the responsible practitioner for each of these items, and link the deficiencies to the appropriate physician for completion.

Position Qualifications:

(Training, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities) High School graduate required Background in medical terminology with at least one year experience in medical record or physician's office.

EDUCATION

High School graduate required. Some college or vocational training in a health related field preferred.

TRAINING

At least 3 months under supervision of Senior Technician/HIM manager until competency is observed.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Requires eye hand coordination with good manual dexterity. Must be able to distinguish colors. Must be able to look at CRT most of the day and must be able to use a computer keyboard.

EXPERIENCE

Previous medical record experience. Prior knowledge of assembling/analyzing preferred
