Education:

High School Diploma or GED required Medical Transcription required Medical Terminology Knowledge required Medical Experience preferred

Responsibilities:

Listening to audio recordings from medical professionals Typing and organizing medical documents from audio files for patient files Transcription of patient histories, physical examination, chart reviews, consultation and discharge summaries Ability to distinguish between homonyms and recognize inconsistencies/mistakes in medical terms May need to refer to dictionaries, drug references, and other sources of anatomy, physiology, or medicine Translation of medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure accuracy of information placed into records.

Abilities:

High-level of multi-tasking Time management skills Team player Must be able to type 60+ words per minute

Physical Requirements:

Requires manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination Requires sitting for extensive periods of time Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges
