Job Description

Position Summary:
A Medical Scribe specializes in medical data entry into an electronic record system, under the direct supervision of the provider. Scribes are vital in instituting an accurate and efficient workflow process.
Compensation:
$16.00 per hour
Responsibilities:
Scribes should discretely carry out duties under the direction and control of the provider. A scribe is not a decision maker or interpreter of medical information. Accompany physician into the patient examination room to assist in transcribing a history and medical exam, and accurately document the physician's encounter with the patient and any others present List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician Transcribe patient order results including laboratory tests, radiology tests, etc. Document any procedures performed by the physician All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) Recognition of medical exam process and ability to record exam details Computer proficiency, especially in the EMR system, to appropriately and accurately document the patient's electronic chart Ability to quickly learn new applications. Ability to accurately record information Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Must be a self-starter that is detail oriented and capable of multi-tasking Comfortable in a fast-paced working environment of a growing practice Preferred Qualifications & Skills Experience in a medical center, large health system, or multispecialty group Athena experience strongly preferred College level coursework with a clinical emphasis preferred Medical Terminology and Anatomy/Physiology is preferred Must have reliable transportation to allow for inter-office I ravels, when necessary.
