Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Medical Transcription Supervisor, the Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for transcribing dictated reports and translating medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms.
Responsibilities:
1. Ability to use transcribing software in conjunction with the headset and foot pedal to listen to recordings by physicians and other healthcare professionals dictating a variety of medical reports with focus on orthopedics, psychiatry, and surgery. 2. Edit and return reports electronically to the dictator for review and signature, or correction. 3. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is required. Strong English grammar and spelling skills are mandatory. Must be proficient with computers and word processing applications/programs. A minimum of two years of experience, along with successful completion of a medical transcription program.
