Job Description

Teche Health, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Medical Scribe Transcriptionist position in Franklin, LA. •This is a Part Time Position•
JOB SUMMARY
: The Medical Scribe Transcriptionist will be responsible for performing all clerical and information technology data entry for a provider in a clinic setting as well as anticipating the needs of the provider to manage the clinic flow. The Medial Scribe is also responsible for transcribing and entering data handwritten by the provider into the EHR. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service skills, organization skills, and have attention to detail. Must be able to multi-task and be self-motivated. This position requires travel to Teche Health facility(s) concurrent with assigned provider.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Document visits and procedures in an accurate and thorough manner while visit is conducted by provider (Scribe). Document visits and procedures handwritten by the provider in an accurate and thorough manner (Transcribe). Communicate with provider to ensure medical record is thorough and complete, as well as accurate and consistent. Document pertinent information appropriately in EMR while following Teche Health guidelines. Works with provider(s) to ensure completion of documentation in accordance with Teche Health Completion of Record policy and procedure. May assist provider in clerical tasks, such as phone calls, faxes, prescriptions, and referrals. May assist in developing and maintaining systems to track patient follow up and compliance. Utilizes time management skills to ensure provider stays on task and maintains flow of clinic. Demonstrates ability to keep patient information confidential.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. No experience required. Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
Communication Ability:
Excellent communication skills at level necessary for understanding and relaying instructions to participants/patients and for accurately documenting information. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
Math Ability:
Basic Math Skills Reasoning Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret directives from supervisor and Teche Health personnel.
Computer Skills:
Education/training or work experience in computer basics and data entry a must. Ability to utilize the EMR systems.
Professional Skills:
Ability to assume responsibility and exercise authority over assigned work functions. Ability to establish and maintain quality control standards. Ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel. Skill in organizing work, making assignments, and achieving goals and objectives. Knowledge of the purposes, organization, and policies of the community's health systems sufficient to interact with other health care providers. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, policy-making bodies, third-party payers, patients, and the public.
