Job Description
Accurately and thoroughly documents medical visits and procedures as the physician and other healthcare professionals perform them. Includes but is not limited to: medical histories, physical exams, procedures, treatment, patient education and explanation of risks and benefits, physician dictated diagnoses, prescription and instructions for patients or family member for self-care and follow-up. Ensures letters, reports/tests are mailed or faxed in required timelines to all healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care. Ensures that all clinical data, lab and other test results and interpretation of results by the physician are accurately recorded in the patient's medical records. Proofreads and edits all physician medical documents for accuracy, spelling, punctuation and grammar. Reports inconsistencies or errors in documentation to the physician. Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements to ensure HIPAA, Universal Precautions, safety standards and practice protocols are followed. Maintains knowledge of information technology, legal & regulatory compliance and billing & coding through continuous training. Performs other duties as assigned. Training through Scribe America preferred.
- Must be available to work provider schedule, which is Tuesday through Friday 9-5 (4 pm of Friday).
