Job Description

Language:
English (required) We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate scribe/medical assistant to join our team at Vista Dermatology. This role is for an outpatient dermatology clinic. In this role, you will scribe in medical visits, provide clinical and administrative support to the physicians of the practice. We are looking for efficient, conscientious, hard workers who enjoy interacting with patients, assisting with small procedures, and ensuring a smooth work flow in the day to day clinic.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
Scribe for physicians in room during clinical visits using EMR Send medications electronically to pharmacy Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures by setting up instruments, documenting medical history, preparing patients for procedures Preparation of examination rooms with stocking and ensuring cleanliness Changing bandages, remove sutures Administering injections and medications as directed by the physician Educate patients on treatment plans, medication instructions, and follow up care Maintaining patient confidentiality Rooming responsibilities
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and manage appointment calendar Answer phone calls, manage patient inquiries, and relay messages to providers File/scan paperwork and reports into patient chart (EMR) As needed verify insurance benefits and collect payments Update electronic medical record with accurate patient information Prepare and maintain patient charts, including medical history updates Maintain and update skin cancer log and patient labs and alert patients of noncompliance with treatment plan Process prescription refills according to patient orders Coordinate with billing, insurance companies regarding billing and claims submissions, as necessary Coordinate with pharmacies for prior authorizations, as necessary Other duties as directed by practice physicians or office manager. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification optional, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe as dictated by practice Strong proficiency in computer applications, including EMR systems Hard working, efficient, collaborative, detail oriented, accurate Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize tasks Understanding of basic medical terminology or willingness to learn
