Medical Scribe - Urgent Care (eClinicalWorks) Overview Xpedited Urgent Care is an independently owned urgent care clinic in Cordova, TN, open seven days a week: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 7:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9:00am to 5:00pm. We use eClinicalWorks and have X-ray, ultrasound, and point-of-care testing on site. We are hiring a Medical Scribe to document patient encounters in real time so our provider can focus on patient care. You will be in the exam room for the visit, building the chart as the encounter happens, and making sure each note is complete and accurate before the end of the shift. This is a live documentation role rather than a transcription role. Because we are a walk-in clinic, the pace varies and the case mix is broad. You will see a wide range of conditions across all age groups, and you will work closely with the provider on every shift in a small clinic setting. Responsibilities Accompany the provider into the exam room and document the visit in real time in eClinicalWorks, including history of present illness, review of systems, physical examination, assessment, and plan. Document procedures performed, medications and injections given with dose and route, supplies used, and imaging ordered and reviewed, so the chart reflects the care actually delivered. Record diagnoses, orders, referrals, and follow-up instructions as stated by the provider. Document the results of in-house laboratory testing and imaging as they become available during the visit. Have each note complete and ready for provider review and signature before the end of the shift. Ask the provider to clarify anything unclear while the encounter is still recent, rather than filling gaps by assumption. Retrieve prior records, previous visit notes, and outside results the provider needs during the visit. Track open charts throughout the shift so that none are left unsigned. Maintain the confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements. Experience High school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior experience as a medical scribe, EMT, CNA, or medical assistant is preferred. Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, including anatomy, common conditions, medications, and procedures. Typing speed of 60 words per minute or higher with a high degree of accuracy. Proficiency with an electronic health record system for documentation and order entry. eClinicalWorks experience is preferred. Strong listening skills and attention to detail, with the ability to follow a clinical conversation and identify what is relevant to the record. Ability to manage several open charts at once without losing accuracy during busy periods. Professional and unobtrusive presence in the exam room with patients present. Coursework in medical terminology, anatomy, or physiology is preferred. Pre-med, pre-PA, pre-nursing, and health science students are encouraged to apply. Scribe certification such as ACMSS is welcome but not required. We will train the right candidate.
