Summary The Memory Care Medication Technician (Med Tech) is responsible for assisting residents with the self-administration of medications, providing compassionate personal care, and promoting the health, safety, and well-being of residents in a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE). The Med Tech works closely with caregivers, supervisors, and healthcare professionals to provide person-centered care for residents living with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other memory-related conditions. 2 days of rotation will be am and the other 2 would be pm) (4 on 2 off rotating schedule) Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist residents with the self-administration of medications according to physician orders, RCFE regulations, and community policies. Accurately document medication administration on Medication Administration Records (MARs). Observe residents for medication side effects or changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition and report concerns promptly. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and eating as needed. Monitor residents' safety, comfort, and overall well-being throughout the shift. Respond promptly to emergency call systems, falls, and resident emergencies. Maintain accurate documentation of resident care, incidents, and observations. Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, family members, and other team members regarding resident care. Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist with meals, hydration, recreational activities, and social engagement. Maintain resident dignity, privacy, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies. Ensure medication carts, storage areas, and supplies are organized, secure, and compliant with state regulations. Participate in shift reports, staff meetings, and required in-service training. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Administrator, Wellness Director, or Supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Current Medication Technician certification or completion of RCFE medication training as required by California regulations. Current CPR and First Aid certification required. Experience in assisted living, memory care, or elder care preferred. Ability to safely assist residents with mobility and transfers. Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills. Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude toward older adults with dementia. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
