The primary responsibility of this position is to monitor and distribute medication to our residents. We are looking for someone the either has experience or has the right attitude to go through our Medication Technician Training Program. POSITION QUALIFICATION
High School Graduate or GED Proficient oral and written communication Skill in taking vital signs Knowledge of medical terminology Knowledge of professional conduct and ethics Knowledge of possible side effects of medication Skill in preparing and charting and maintaining accurate resident charts, reports and observations. Effective interpersonal relations
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
: Prepares and administers medications with the exception of injections understanding the facility's protocols for safety of residents. Performs basic nursing care such as taking vital signs, monitoring catheters/colostomy and recording food and fluid intake and output. Orders/reorders medical supplies and medications as needed in compliance with the facility policies and procedures. Receives and logs medications in the centrally stored medication logbook. Communicates clearly with residents, families, physicians and co-workers regarding resident's change of condition and nursing care. Documents activities and interventions done. Coordinate with the LVN regarding medication administration process and other related issues to ensure safety and comforts of residents. Participates in facility's development training as required. Performs other duties as requested.
