The Junior College of Kansas City, as it was known starting in 1919, was one of the first schools in the country to award an associate degree. Today, MCC offers 125 associate degree and certificate programs. Metropolitan Community College comprises five campuses on the Missouri side of the Greater Kansas City area 47 major buildings and about 550 acres in all: MCC-Blue River, located in Independence, Missouri; MCC-Longview located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, MCC-Maple Woods located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri; MCC-Online and MCC-Penn Valley, located in Midtown Kansas City, Missouri. POOL POSITION
Application materials for this position is accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand. Assignments may be scheduled but not granted based on enrollment and/or operational decisions. The Workforce and Economic Development Division (W.E.D.) of Metropolitan Community College is the leader in innovative workforce solutions and community enrichment. We partner to first develop our community in order to develop it economically for the growth of the Kansas City metro's citizens; families, businesses, industry, organizations, and associations. Temporary faculty serve the college and students by providing high quality instruction and engaging in instruction related activities. Temporary faculty are expected to perform all duties associated with teaching an assigned course to include all course preparation, meeting with students, entering grades, and other duties related to course delivery. Upon employment temporary faculty must maintain updated credentials as required by the college's accrediting agencies.
Employment Restrictions:
An annuitant of the Missouri Retirement System must adhere to the applicable regulations. Employees, who possess a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate, may be required to participate in the Public School Retirement System of Missouri (PSRS). Temporary faculty may be assigned up to ten (10) work units per semester for fall and spring. An additional two (2) work units per term may be assigned with approval from the dean and notification to human resources but no more than twenty-four (24) work units in an academic year. For summer, work units may not exceed 3.5 work units in June, and 3.5 work units in July. Noncredit courses taught during the normal academic year are included in these limitations.
Combination Load Maximum:
If a temporary faculty member's load includes work unit and clock hour assignments, the combined weekly clock hour total will be monitored to adhere to temporary faculty assignment limitations. Employees assigned responsibilities through Workforce and Economic Development may be compensated based on assigned work units or clock-hours, in accordance with MCCKC guidelines for temporary employment. Essential Functions Provide instruction for the Certified Medication Technician (CMT) program, ensuring students gain the knowledge and skills required for safe medication administration. Develop and deliver course lectures and instructional materials aligned with program objectives and state regulations. Supervise and assess student performance in practical laboratory sessions and medication administration procedures. Evaluate student competency through testing, observation, and documentation of skills proficiency. Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, attendance, and grades. Ensure curriculum compliance with state regulations and industry best practices for medication administration. Participate in program evaluation, improvement initiatives, and activities that support student success.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Current, unrestricted Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) license or temporary Missouri RN permit. Current Missouri CMT Instructor/Examiner teaching certificate. Successful completion of the Missouri DHSS-approved CMT Instructor/Examiner workshop. Current listing as a qualified CMT Instructor/Examiner on the Missouri DHSS Instructor/Examiner Registry. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medication administration principles, pharmacology, and drug classifications. Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to medication administration by Certified Medication Technicians. Knowledge of various routes of medication administration, dosage calculations, and potential side effects. Knowledge of effective pedagogical approaches for adult learners, particularly in a skills-based learning environment. Knowledge of the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint for presentation development. Skill in providing clear instruction and demonstrations of medication administration techniques. Skill in overseeing and assessing student competency in practical medication administration. Skill in maintaining attention to detail and teaching precision in medication handling and documentation. Skill in utilizing the Canvas LMS for course delivery, grading, and student communication. Skill in creating visually appealing and informative PowerPoint presentations. Skill in managing classroom and laboratory environments to ensure student safety and effective learning. Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically requires feeling, grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
