Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medication administration and patient care, with experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings. As a Certified Medication Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring residents and patients receive safe, accurate medication management while providing compassionate support that enhances their quality of life. Duties Administer prescribed medications accurately to residents or patients in accordance with healthcare regulations and facility policies. Monitor and document medication effects, vital signs, and patient responses using electronic health record (EHR) systems or medical documentation tools. Assist residents with personal care activities such as mobility, hygiene, and feeding, including tube feeding when necessary. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and protect resident privacy at all times. Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive resident care plans are followed effectively. Observe for adverse reactions or changes in condition and report findings promptly to supervising nurses or physicians. Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care, utilizing specialized techniques to ensure safety and comfort. Follow all safety protocols related to manual handling, heavy lifting, and infection control procedures to promote a safe environment for staff and residents. Requirements Valid certification as a Medication Technician recognized by the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing authority. Proven experience working with geriatric patients in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and common medical procedures such as catheter care and vital signs measurement. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Cerner or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges; knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer's care is highly desirable. Current CPR and First Aid certification to respond effectively during emergencies. Ability to perform heavy lifting when required while maintaining safety standards for self and residents. Strong communication skills for caregiving tasks and caregiver communication; ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Knowledge of state healthcare regulations and senior living facility standards to ensure compliance across all duties.
