Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Certified Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medication administration, patient care, and senior living or healthcare environments. As a Certified Medication Technician, you will be responsible for accurately administering medications, monitoring residents' health status, and supporting overall resident well-being while adhering to strict safety and confidentiality standards. Duties Administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with state healthcare regulations and facility policies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Monitor residents' vital signs, symptoms, and responses to medication treatments, reporting any adverse effects or concerns promptly. Maintain precise medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or similar platforms, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist residents with personal care activities including hygiene, mobility, and activities of daily living, especially for those with memory care or dementia needs. Support residents with specialized care requirements such as tube feeding, catheter care, or hospice care protocols. Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, caregivers, and healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive resident care plans. Follow proper manual handling procedures during resident transfers or heavy lifting tasks to ensure safety for both residents and staff. Maintain strict confidentiality of all medical records and resident information in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations. Requirements Valid certification as a Medication Technician recognized by the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing authority. Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care settings. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care practices including dementia and Alzheimer's care. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or EHR platforms; experience with medical documentation is essential. Strong understanding of state healthcare regulations and compliance standards for medication administration and patient safety. Excellent communication skills for caregiving roles involving resident personal care assistance and caregiver communication. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary while maintaining proper manual handling techniques. CPR and First Aid certification are required; additional training in hospice or memory care is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with geriatric patients and individuals with disabilities in diverse healthcare environments.
