RESPONSIBILITIES
Dispense oral, inhalation, and topical medications to residents per physician's order and under direct supervision of a licensed nurse based on company and State regulations. Recording medication administration or refusal of medications, according to company procedure and State regulations. Performing tasks associated with medication administration, including ordering medication, resident vital signs, and stocking the medication cart. Always maintains a clean and orderly med cart and med room in compliance with company policy and State requirements. Performs and records monthly checks of weights and vital signs as assigned and maintaining compliance with company policy and State requirements. Maintains records of medications released to and returned by any resident or family member in compliance with company policy and State regulations. Maintains records of all current medications for each resident in compliance with company policy and State regulations. Maintains records of controlled drugs in compliance with company policy and State regulations. Is responsible for handling emergency situations such as resident/staff illness or accident or building emergency at any time management staff is not in the facility. When the Director of Health Services or Executive Director is in the community, the Medication Technician will assist in responding to an emergency page or need. Is responsible for accurately completing all forms and care notes related to and required by company policy and State regulations regarding resident's care. (i.e. 48 hour alert charting, behavior charting, antibiotic charting) Completing walking rounds with on-coming shift. Assists the nurse in providing care to residents, which includes observation and reporting of client needs. Accepts responsibility and accountability for own performance according to state laws and regulations. Supervision of Resident Assistants, ensuring that cares and tasks are completed per company and State regulations. Is responsible for assisting residents when a Resident Assistant is unable or unavailable to assist. Communicate the listed events to the Director of Health Services, the Executive Director, or the Manager on-call.
Events include:
A resident injury or illness A resident returning from the hospital A building emergency A staff call-in A staff problem that affects the care of residents, etc. Attends all meetings and in services as requested by the Resident Care Director or Executive Director. Position may require working some days, times, or positions other than those scheduled as requested by the Director of Health Services or Executive Director. May not clock out until the relief for the next shift arrives. Knowledgeable and follows
PHI/HIPPA
regulations. Performs other duties as may be requested by Resident Care Director or Executive Director.
