A Medication Aide or Technician provides medication to patients in long-term care and skilled nursing facilities. This role provides one pathway into licensed nursing training. May help measure and record vital signs, and assist in activities of daily living (ADLS).
Ensures timely and efficient access to select medications, conducts benefits investigations, submits prior authorizations, and assists with denial management. Collaborates to streamline communication, resolve access issues, and provide exceptional customer service.

Essential Functions:
Performs benefits investigations and submits prior authorizations for select medications and clinics within the organization. Provides support for prior authorization denial management including appeals, patient assistance program applications, and claims review, as needed. Assists clinic team members, patients, and caregivers with medication access to select medications. Works with external pharmacies and copay assistance programs, as needed. Gathers necessary information to support the medication access process. Documents clearly and appropriately within the electronic health record. Collaborates with pharmacy and clinic team members and external stakeholders (e.g., insurance providers) to ensure seamless and effective communication and coordination of care.
Education Requirement:
High school diploma or equivalent, required.
Licensure Requirement:
Registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (Registered or Certified Pharmacy Technician), required.
Certifications:
Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (PTCB, ExCPT), required.
Skills:
Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to problem solve and work independently. A strong attention to detail to accurately document information. Strong sense of accountability to ensure alignment with processes and patient needs.
Experience:
2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a pharmacy area related to the position, preferred. Pharmacy or medical billing experience, preferred.
