Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide safe and effective medication administration and support to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. This role requires a strong understanding of patient care, medical documentation, and medication protocols, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for individuals with various health conditions, including dementia, and disabilities. The Certified Medication Aide will work closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and deliver exceptional care. Responsibilities Administer prescribed medications accurately to residents or patients following established protocols and physician orders. Monitor and document vital signs, medication effects, and patient responses using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner. Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, mobility, and feeding assistance. Maintain detailed medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies. Observe and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to nursing staff promptly. Support residents with specialized care needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, or memory care routines. Ensure medication storage complies with safety standards and proper documentation is maintained for all medication administration activities. Adhere to infection control procedures and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infections. Participate in ongoing training related to assisted living, hospice care, dementia care, and other specialized areas of senior or disability care. Skills Proven experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospital, or home care environments. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medication administration procedures. Familiarity with MAR systems; experience with medical records management is preferred. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments. Excellent caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and professionalism. Capable of performing vital signs measurement and basic nursing tasks such as catheter care or tube feeding if required. Good communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams and documenting patient information accurately.
