In this vital role, you will assist in administering medications and providing personalized resident care within a senior living or healthcare facility. Your expertise will ensure residents receive safe, effective medication management while supporting their overall well-being. Duties Safely administer prescribed medications to residents according to physician orders and facility protocols while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and state healthcare regulations. Monitor residents' vital signs, response to medications, and overall health status, documenting findings accurately in medical records. Assist residents with personal care tasks including hygiene, mobility, feeding (including tube feeding), catheter care, and memory care activities tailored to individual needs. Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring dignity and comfort are prioritized at all times. Maintain detailed medication administration records and ensure proper storage and disposal of medications in compliance with safety standards. Respond promptly to emergencies by providing first aid or CPR when necessary, demonstrating proficiency in basic life support techniques. Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to communicate resident needs clearly and compassionately while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. Qualifications Valid certification as a Medication Aide recognized by the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing authority. Proven experience working with geriatric patients in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medication protocols related to senior care and dementia management. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety standards. Excellent communication skills for caregiving and caregiver communication; compassionate approach when working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory impairments. Certifications in first aid, CPR, and basic life support are required; additional training in Alzheimer's care, hospice care, or acute care is advantageous.
