Job Description

The Medication Technician is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely administration of medications and treatments to residents in accordance with physician orders, Oregon regulations, facility policies, and resident service plans. This position also provides quality resident care, observes and reports changes in condition, and promotes the health, dignity, safety, and independence of each resident.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Medication Administration:
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility policy. Follow the rights of medication administration at all times. Accurately document all medications, treatments, refusals, omissions, and PRN effectiveness in the Medication Administration Record (MAR/eMAR). Monitor residents for medication side effects, adverse reactions, or changes in condition and immediately report concerns to the nurse or supervisor. Obtain and document vital signs when required. Maintain accurate narcotic counts and immediately report discrepancies or medication errors. Ensure medication carts, medication rooms, and storage areas remain clean, organized, secure, and compliant with state regulations. Assist with medication reorders and communicate with pharmacies as directed. Resident CareAssist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as assigned, including mobility, toileting, dressing, grooming, dining assistance, and personal hygiene. Provide compassionate, respectful, and person-centered care. Encourage resident independence while maintaining safety. Follow individualized service plans and care instructions.
Resident Monitoring:
Observe residents throughout the shift and report changes in physical, mental, emotional, or behavioral status. Promptly notify nursing or management of falls, injuries, medication concerns, unusual behaviors, or emergencies. Document resident observations accurately and objectively. Safety and ComplianceFollow all infection prevention and control procedures. Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Follow Oregon assisted living regulations, company policies, and resident rights at all times. Complete incident reports before the end of the shift when required. Respond appropriately to emergency situations. Participate in fire drills, disaster preparedness, and emergency response procedures. TeamworkProvide accurate shift-to-shift communication. Work cooperatively with caregivers, nurses, physicians, pharmacies, hospice providers, families, and other healthcare professionals. Attend required meetings and in-service training.

Assist in orienting new employees when requested. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Current Oregon Medication Aide/Medication Technician qualifications as required by state regulations. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care preferred. Ability to safely administer medications and maintain accurate documentation. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team. Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to push wheelchairs and assist residents with transfers. Ability to respond quickly during emergencies.

Manual dexterity sufficient for medication administration and documentation. Work EnvironmentAssisted Living and Memory Care community. Exposure to communicable diseases, cleaning chemicals, and routine healthcare environments. May work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Performance Expectations:
Medication Technicians are expected to demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and integrity. Maintain resident dignity and confidentiality. Administer medications safely and accurately. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and coworkers. Follow all facility policies and Oregon regulations. Pay:
$19.00 - $23.00 per hour
