Job Description

Medication Technician (Med Tech) Bridgeport Place Assisted Living & Memory Care | University Place, WA You could work anywhere. You should probably work here. We're looking for a Medication Technician (Med Tech) to join the team at Bridgeport Place—and yes, we know every job posting says they have a "great team." But hear us out. We're a community where people know each other. Where leadership is actually present. Where residents have personalities, stories, favorite routines, and very strong opinions about what time things should happen. Where coworkers laugh together, help each other out, and understand that some shifts are smooth sailing…and others require caffeine, teamwork, and a good sense of humor. Most importantly, we take excellent care of people—and we're looking for someone who wants to be part of that. This Is More Than Passing Meds Our Med Techs play an important role in keeping the entire shift running smoothly. Yes, medication administration is a major responsibility—but so are documentation, administrative duties, communication, problem-solving, and leadership. On your shift, you'll help set the tone for the team and make sure important information gets to the right people. What You'll Actually Do Your primary responsibilities will include:
Medication Administration:
Safely and accurately administer medications according to physician orders, the MAR, and facility policies and procedures.
Charting & Documentation:
Complete accurate, timely resident charting and documentation. If it wasn't documented, did it really happen? According to healthcare regulations, the answer is usually no.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Complete assigned administrative tasks, follow up on outstanding items, maintain organized records, and help ensure the next shift has the information it needs to succeed.
Incident Reporting:
Recognize, respond to, document, and report resident incidents appropriately, including completing incident reports and ensuring necessary notifications and follow-up occur.
Family Communication:
Communicate professionally and compassionately with resident families regarding changes, concerns, incidents, and other relevant updates within the scope of your role.
Shift Leadership:
Act as a team lead on shift , helping caregivers prioritize resident needs, answering questions, delegating appropriately, troubleshooting issues, and helping keep the shift organized.
Resident Monitoring:
Pay attention to changes in condition, behavior, appetite, mobility, cognition, or overall wellbeing and communicate concerns promptly to the appropriate nurse or leadership team.
Medication Management:
Assist with medication ordering, storage, inventory, refills, and coordination with pharmacies and providers.
Team Communication:
Communicate effectively with caregivers, nurses, management, providers, pharmacies, families, and—most importantly—the next shift. No one enjoys starting a shift by solving a mystery.
Resident Support:
Treat every resident with dignity, patience, kindness, and respect while providing assistance within the scope of your role.
Problem-Solving:
Help manage the unexpected, because senior living has yet to produce a shift where every single thing goes exactly according to plan. In other words, we're looking for someone who can pass meds safely, document thoroughly, communicate clearly, lead confidently, and still remember that there are real people at the center of all of it. Who We're Looking For You don't need to be perfect. We do need you to be dependable, compassionate, detail-oriented, organized, and willing to take ownership of your shift. You'll probably love it here if you: Genuinely enjoy working with older adults Understand that medication administration requires your full attention Are comfortable taking the lead and providing direction when needed Can prioritize when approximately seven things suddenly become important at the same time Write clear, accurate, and timely documentation Communicate confidently and professionally with families Notice when something seems "off" with a resident and speak up Follow through instead of assuming someone else will take care of it Show up when you say you will Treat caregivers, nurses, housekeepers, dining staff, residents, families, and everyone else with respect Can receive feedback without taking it personally Are willing to jump in when your team needs you Can laugh at work while still knowing when it's time to be serious Believe residents deserve more than having their basic needs met—they deserve to feel known, valued, and at home Previous assisted living, memory care, caregiving, medication-administration, or shift-lead experience is a plus. Appropriate Washington State credentials and required training must be maintained for the position. Why Bridgeport Place? Because culture matters. We want people to like coming to work. We want you to know your coworkers, know your residents, and know that the work you do matters. We have long-term employees who have made Bridgeport Place their home away from home. We celebrate our residents and our staff. We have fun. We work hard. We occasionally eat things we probably shouldn't. And when things get busy—as they sometimes do in senior living—we work through them together. Our residents aren't room numbers or tasks on a checklist. They're people who have lived extraordinary lives, raised families, built careers, survived hard things, loved deeply, and collected decades' worth of stories. And now we get the privilege of being part of their story. That's a responsibility we take seriously. The Fine Print This is healthcare, so yes—there will be documentation. Quite a bit of documentation, actually. There will be policies. There will be training. There will be phone calls. There will be unexpected situations. There will occasionally be bodily fluids. We cannot promise every shift will be easy. We can promise that the work matters, that you'll have opportunities every day to make someone's life better, and that you'll be joining a team that genuinely cares about the people who live and work here. Still Reading? Good. We like you already. If you're dependable, compassionate, organized, capable of leading a team, and looking for a workplace where you can do meaningful work without checking your personality at the door , we'd love to meet you. Apply today. Worst-case scenario? You spend a little time meeting us. Best-case scenario? You find the place you wish you'd started working at sooner.
