Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist in administering medications, monitoring patient health, and providing essential support to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. Your expertise will ensure safe medication practices and contribute to the overall well-being of individuals with diverse needs, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, or disabilities. Responsibilities Administer prescribed medications accurately and safely in accordance with healthcare protocols and HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs, observe patient responses, and report any adverse reactions promptly. Maintain detailed medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Assist with medication management tasks including tube feeding, catheter care, and other specialized procedures. Support patients with activities of daily living, including mobility assistance and personal hygiene. Ensure compliance with all safety standards related to medication storage, handling, and disposal. Collaborate with nursing staff and healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive patient care tailored to individual needs. Experience Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medical documentation practices. Hands-on experience with medication administration techniques and medical procedures such as catheter care and vital signs monitoring. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is advantageous. Background working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring memory care, hospice care, or dementia support is a plus. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards related to medical records. Experience in acute care settings or working with patients with disabilities enhances your ability to excel in this role.
