In this role, you will provide compassionate, attentive care to children and adults with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, PTSD, and other behavioral health conditions. Location The job location is in Birmingham and all of its surrounding areas. Applicants in all surrounding areas (such as Pinson, Hoover, Bessemer, Warrior, Chelsea, Tuscaloosa, Talladega, Anniston, Gadsden, Pell City, Winfield, Alabaster, and Jefferson County) are strongly encouraged to apply. Duties Assist individuals with daily activities, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times Monitor behavioral responses and implement behavior management strategies using applied behavior analysis techniques Support medication administration following proper medical documentation and HIPAA privacy standards IF requested by DHR Engage in crisis intervention and crisis management to de-escalate challenging situations effectively Collect data on behaviors and progress for ongoing assessment and treatment planning Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, medical staff, and educators, during intake assessments and ongoing care Skills Proven experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs Strong understanding of crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavior management techniques Knowledge of working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), PTSD, or addiction counseling is highly desirable Ability to monitor vital signs, administer medication safely, and understand medical terminology and documentation protocols Excellent communication skills for effective social work interactions, data collection, and medical record keeping Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles to support behavior modification strategies Compassionate attitude combined with the ability to handle sensitive situations discreetly while adhering to HIPAA regulations This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to support others through compassionate care, behavioral support strategies, and collaborative teamwork.
