Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Professional Intern to join our dynamic mental health and behavioral care team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting individuals with diverse needs, including behavioral challenges, and mental health conditions. As an intern, you will work closely with licensed professionals to deliver client-centered care, assist with clinical documentation, and develop essential skills in behavioral intervention, crisis management, and patient communication. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of adults while advancing their knowledge of behavioral health practices. Duties Assist in conducting intake assessments and behavioral evaluations for clients across various age groups Support implementation of behavior intervention plans based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles Observe and document client progress, collecting data on behaviors, medication effects, and treatment outcomes Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure client safety during challenging situations Support clients with daily activities, including social skills development Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations Medication administration oversight, and first aid or CPR as needed Engage in client communication to promote positive interactions and reinforce therapeutic goals while maintaining confidentiality Qualifications Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred Knowledge of mental health conditions such as PTSD or substance use disorders is a plus Familiarity with behavior management techniques, and crisis management strategies Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical documentation, and electronic health records (EHR) management Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members Ability to handle sensitive situations using de-escalation techniques and maintain patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disorders highly desirable Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire is preferred This internship provides an enriching environment where you can develop your skills in social work, patient care, crisis intervention, and behavior analysis.
