Assistant Principal Job Description Job Purpose:
The Elementary Scholar Support Specialist provides leadership and direction at the school level, working to design, implement, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive behavior support program. In addition, the Elementary Scholar Support Specialist works directly and proactively with identified students to adopt behaviors that substantially increase their academic performance. Under the supervision of the assistant principal, the Scholar Support Specialist will provide diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for identified students.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
At all times, model, reinforce, and abide by the Paideia core values of Respect, and Responsibility. Facilitate team meetings with the identified student's teachers and parents for the purpose of completing a Functional Behavioral Assessment. Engage parents, scholars, assistant principal, teachers and community service providers in the creation and implementation of the Paideia Success Guide (student behavior intervention plan) and empower this team by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development of the child. Provide daily support for each scholar on a Paideia Success Guide by checking in and out with them and analyzing the Success Guide data for fidelity of implementation and any needs for modification or supports. Facilitate PLC team meetings to implement Behavior Interventions Plans such as the Success Guide, Recovery Station along with other behavior interventions to support the teacher and student to successfully advance through the academic curriculum. Work with the Dean of Students to implement the Peer Mentor Coach program for the purpose of implementing peer conflict resolution, peer mediation, and older peer to younger peer emotional support. The peer mentors should meet regularly with the Scholar Support Specialist to receive training and support in their scholar assignments. Record all scholar behavioral intervention efforts in Infinite Campus. Review Infinite Campus behavior referrals and Infinite Campus behavior referral data reports. Act as liaison between the campus, families and the public and mental health community for supporting individual student behavioral development goals. Continually supervise students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where students can thrive. Organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures; report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve Paideia's academic and whole-child goals.
