Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students as a Paraprofessional in an inclusive school setting near Berkeley, CA. In this impactful position, you'll assist learners across various age groups and needs—ranging from Pre-K through high school—and play a crucial part in their educational and developmental journeys. Adaptability and a team-oriented mindset are essential, as paraprofessionals may be assigned anywhere needs arise, including specialized health support and assistance with personal care tasks. Qualifications vary by assignment, but candidates must meet at least one of the following: Associate's Degree or higher, OR 48+ college units and High School Diploma, OR Passage of CBEST and High School Diploma, OR Passage of the Instructional Aide Exam with High School Diploma Additional certifications for certain roles may include: Successful completion of annual emergency anti-seizure medication training, community first aid/CPR (provided/funded) Specialized training for physical healthcare procedures (for specific assignments) Experience working directly with students exhibiting behavioral or social-emotional needs Sign language fluency or Braille/vision impairment coursework preferred for relevant placements State of California LVN license with CPR and First Aid Certification, where required
Responsibilities:
Support individualized instruction, daily routines, and behavioral/social goals for students with diverse needs Provide assistance with health-related supports (g-tube feeding, toileting, medication, etc.) as trained/required Work collaboratively with educators, therapists, and administrators Remain flexible and willing to serve wherever needed within the school or on transportation routes as a bus aide Assignments range from part-time (Pre-K, Elementary) to full-time (Middle/High School, Bus Aide), up to 40 hours per week.
