Job Summary Job Summary Thursdays 8:30am - 2pm Under the direction of certificated staff and in collaboration with the school nurse and multidisciplinary service providers, the Health Aide supports the implementation of instructional, health, and related services for students with regular and special needs. This position works with individual students and/or small groups to promote student health, safety, engagement, independence, and access to learning in a well-organized, smoothly functioning school environment. Essential functions may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide proactive, timely support for student services, which may include Orientation & Mobility (O&M), Vision Services (VI), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI), and other related services.
  • Support student health and personal care needs, including assisting with scheduled changing in a respectful and confidential manner.
  • Demonstrate flexibility throughout the school day and anticipate student needs across settings.
  • Support and consistently implement assigned incentive and behavior plans.
  • Provide positive reinforcement, redirection, and modeling of appropriate behaviors in all environments.
  • Model academic, functional, and service-related skills to encourage student engagement, progress, and increasing independence.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with teachers, service providers, administrators, and support staff, sharing feedback, ideas, and concerns as they arise.
  • Document health-related needs and supports in accordance with guidance from the school nurse and established procedures.
  • Assist teachers in maintaining a safe, supportive, and well-organized learning environment that maximizes student access to instruction and resources.
