Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Aide to join our emergency shelter team. In this vital role, you will provide immediate support and safety for individuals experiencing homelessness, including youth, families, and high-risk populations. Your energetic and proactive approach will ensure residents receive respectful care, guidance, and crisis intervention as needed. Duties Assist residents with daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being within the shelter environment Conduct intake assessments and facilitate resident onboarding while maintaining strict confidentiality Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts or behavioral issues effectively Support residents with case management tasks, including data collection, filing, and documentation of services provided Administer medications following proper procedures when necessary and ensure compliance with health protocols such as first aid and CPR Monitor security within the shelter premises through manual handling, security checks, and surveillance to maintain a safe environment Collaborate with social workers, addiction counselors, and mental health professionals to support residents' behavioral health needs Engage in conflict management strategies to resolve disputes among residents or staff while promoting respectful communication Support children and youth by facilitating age-appropriate activities and providing childcare when needed Assist with working with culturally diverse communities and underserved populations to ensure inclusive care Maintain accurate records of resident interactions, incident reports, and data entry related to shelter operations Qualifications Proven supervising experience in residential or shelter settings is highly desirable Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with residents from diverse backgrounds Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health conditions, or high-risk populations Knowledge of behavioral health principles, conflict management, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention methods Familiarity with case management practices including intake procedures, data collection, filing, and documentation Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data entry and reporting purposes Valid certifications in CPR, First Aid, manual handling, and medication administration are required or preferred Experience working with families, youth, or in home & community care settings is advantageous Ability to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends as needed to support 24/7 shelter operations Join us in creating a safe haven where individuals can find stability and hope.
