In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive support to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Hearing individuals in home Support settings, fostering a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment. Your energetic approach will help promote positive behavioral health, assist with daily living activities, and ensure the well-being of residents. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through active engagement, crisis intervention, and personalized care. While maintaining compliance with Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) regulations, poliices, and procedures. Duties Supervise individuals to promote safety, positive behavior management, and adherence to community guidelines Implement behavioral health strategies and conflict management techniques to de-escalate tense situations effectively Conduct intake assessments and assist with case management to develop individualized support plans Administer medications following prescribed protocols and maintain accurate medication administration records Provide crisis intervention as needed, ensuring immediate safety and appropriate follow-up actions Support activities and facilitate interventions to enhance individuals emotional well-being Maintain detailed data entry, filing, and data collection related to resident progress and incident reports Assist with home and community care tasks, including security checks and ensuring a safe environment Follow DDS policies regarding incidents reporting, medication assistance, emergency procedures, and health -related supports. Communication Support Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods as appropriate. Ensure effective communication access for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Hearing individuals Support individuals in expressing their needs, preferences, and goals. Experience Supervising experience in residential or community-based settings preferred Strong communication skills for effective interaction with individuals, families, and team members Experience in crisis intervention, conflict management, or behavioral health services required Knowledge of counseling, medication administration, and behavior management techniques advantageous Prior experience in home & community care environments highly desirable Ability to handle data entry, filing, and recordkeeping accurately and efficiently Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. Minimum age of 18 years. Valid Connecticut Driver's License. Reliable transportation. Ability to pass criminal background screening and DDS-required checks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Deaf Culture and American Sign Language (ASL) or the ability to learn Required Trainings Abuse and Neglect Prevention Human Rights HIPPA and Confidentiality CPR and First Aid Emergency Preparedness Medication Administration (if applicable) Mandated Reporter Training Cultural Competency and Communication Access Training. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals when necessary . Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical activities throughout the shift.
