Classroom Aide | Plainfield, Indiana Job DescriptionJob Description Bring your passion for education and your skills in American Sign Language to a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a vibrant school community near Plainfield, IN. This full-time paraprofessional role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by working one-on-one with a 3rd grade student, providing both academic and social support for a successful school year. Your day will run from 8:45 am to 3:45 pm, with an early release at 3:15 pm on Wednesdays. The ideal candidate is fluent in ASL, enthusiastic about fostering inclusive learning environments, and brings energy and empathy to every interaction.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a school paraprofessional or in a similar support role Commitment to supporting students with diverse learning styles and abilities Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity Reliability and punctuality for consistent daily support
Responsibilities:
Work 1:1 with a 3rd grade student, providing academic and behavioral assistance Facilitate effective communication between the student and classroom staff using ASL Support daily classroom activities, assignments, and routines Assist with social integration and independence Communicate progress and concerns to teachers and support staff Maintain a positive and respectful learning atmosphere This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $22-$28, as well as the opportunity to collaborate in a welcoming and supportive district environment.
