ASSOCIATE
Summary:

As an EHS Associate you will support the EHS teams with day-to-day safety activities while gaining hands-on experience in construction and utility safety. A key responsibility is conducting safety onboarding for new employees and assisting with employee training. Through field experience, coaching, mentoring, and formal training, the EHS Associate will develop the knowledge and skills needed to advance into EHS Coordinator I and future EHS positions within the organization. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals beginning a career in Environmental, Health and Safety. The salary range is $55,000.00 - $68,000.00.

Conducts new employee EHS onboarding and safety orientation, ensuring employees understand basic company safety expectations, policies, procedures, and required training. Assists with employee safety training and develops the skills necessary to effectively communicate safety information to field employees. Participates in daily and pre-job safety planning to learn company requirements and understand hazards associated with construction activities. Conducts basic jobsite observations and inspections with guidance from experienced EHS personnel and supervision. Learns to recognize common workplace hazards and unsafe conditions and promptly communicates concerns to supervision or EHS leadership. Assists EHS personnel with incident and near-miss investigations, including gathering information, completing documentation, and following up on assigned corrective actions. Supports completion and maintenance of EHS documentation and records, including training records, inspections, safety forms, and other required documentation. Assists with distribution and tracking of PPE, safety materials, and other EHS resources needed by employees and project teams. Assists with environmental, regulatory, and DOT compliance activities while developing an understanding of applicable requirements. Participates in EHS meetings, field activities, training programs, coaching, and professional development opportunities to build the knowledge and competencies required for advancement to EHS Coordinator I and future EHS positions.
Education, Skills, Experience Needed:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor degree in EHS, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred but not required. Entry level position, little to no prior EHS experience required. Construction, utility, industrial, military, internship, co-op, or other relevant experience is beneficial. First Aid, CPR, AED and OSHA training preferred; training will be provided as needed. Additional EHS training and professional certifications will be encouraged as experience is gained. Strong interest in developing a career in EHS; willingness to learn; basic organization and time-management skills; ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks, ask questions, and seek guidance when appropriate. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn company EHS systems and technology. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the willingness to develop training, presentation, and employee engagement skills Positive attitude, dependable work habits, strong work ethic, accountability, and willingness to accept coaching and feedback. Able to work effectively as part of a team and interact professionally with field employees and supervision. Collaborative, trustworthy, safety-focused, willing to learn, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced field environment. This position is intended as an entry point into the EHS career path. Through demonstrated performance, competency development, experience, and business needs, employees may advance to EHS Coordinator I, EHS Coordinator II, EHS Coordinator III, and future EHS leadership opportunities.
