Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
A member of the therapeutic day school team, is responsible for assisting in classroom activities through implementation of individualized behavior management programs, including crisis intervention techniques.
Primary Responsibilities:
Identifies problem areas and assists staff in initiating corrective
interventions.
Helps to establish therapeutic relationships among students, staff
and parents, recognizes their individual needs, and accurately
observes, assesses and documents their mood, behavior,
verbalization and implementation of appropriate interventions.
Assists the teacher in providing structure in the classroom by
initiating activities and enabling students to utilize free time
appropriately.
Assists teacher with instruction in academic subjects.
Contributes to the planning and implementation of individual
educational plan interventions by providing accurate clinical
assessments based on observations and interactions.
Effectively co-leads therapeutic groups as assigned.
Evaluate and maintains a safe environment.
Assists educational team with crisis prevention and physical
intervention, as needed.
