The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of medical terminology and have experience in various medical settings. This role is essential in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our medical staff in delivering exceptional healthcare services. A Substance Abuse Residential CMA plays a critical role in the treatment and recovery of individuals in a residential substance abuse treatment setting. The job involves the administration of prescribed medications, providing assistance with daily activities, and offering support to individuals who are undergoing substance abuse rehabilitation. Duties Checking vital signs on residential patients Monitoring patients during medication pass time and ensuring patients are taking their home medications correctly (CMA will not actually handle the medication to administer, but monitor that patient takes their own medication correctly and sign acknowledging) Work directly with Medical Staff on encounter documentation including drafting prescriptions, calling in medication orders, charting medical progress notes for MD to review and sign during consultations Collaborate and communicate with/to medical staff on abnormal vital signs, CIWA and COWs monitoring, missed medication doses Assist with triage on new admissions and communicate to Medical Providers and imminent withdrawal symptoms Document medication changes including new medication orders and discontinued medications Add new patients to the documentation/charting system Schedule medical consults for the Medical Provider in the medical charting system Assist with medical appointments completed by partnering Nurse Practitioner. Provide TB skill tests upon admission and read within standard timeframes Update documentation throughout patient admission Provide medical education via individual appointments and groups to residential clients. Take and record patient histories, vital signs, and other relevant information. Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies. Administer basic life support as needed and assist in emergency situations. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the agency On-call duties as assigned Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical records. Requirements Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program. Knowledge of internal substance abuse and mental health is preferred Proficient understanding of medical terminology. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 2pm-10pm On-call rotation
Pay:
From $16.00 per hour
