Date:
September 2026 The Behavioral Health Intern will support the Behavioral Health Department in advancing student wellness, social-emotional learning, early intervention practices, and trauma-informed systems of support. Working under the supervision of the Associate Director of Behavioral Health, the intern will gain hands-on experience in school-based behavioral health services, program development, data-informed decision making, and cross-functional collaboration. The internship is designed to provide practical exposure to behavioral health initiatives while strengthening professional skills in assessment, program coordination, stakeholder engagement, and student support systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Behavioral Health Program Support:
Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral health, social-emotional learning, and early intervention initiatives; ensure alignment with organizational goals, trauma-informed practices, and student-centered support frameworks.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Support the collection, organization, and analysis of behavioral health and student support data; maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and assist with identifying trends to inform decision-making and program improvements.
Student Support Coordination:
Assist with coordinating Tier I and Tier II supports, student wellness initiatives, and behavioral health resources; collaborate with school staff and community partners to promote access to services.
Research and Resource Development:
Conduct research on evidence-based practices in behavioral health, mental wellness, trauma-informed care, and youth development; assist in creating resource materials, toolkits, and presentations for staff, students, and families.
Meeting and Project Support:
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, document key action items, and assist with project management activities that support departmental priorities and strategic initiatives.
Training and Professional Learning Assistance:
Support the planning and coordination of professional development opportunities related to behavioral health, resilience, restorative practices, and student wellness.
Community and Family Engagement:
Assist in developing communication materials and outreach strategies that promote awareness of behavioral health services and strengthen family and community partnerships.
Administrative Support:
Maintain confidential files and records in accordance with organizational policies and applicable privacy regulations; coordinate departmental operations and utilize designated data management systems and platforms.
Special Projects:
Complete additional assignments and special projects as directed by the Associate Director of Behavioral Health to support departmental goals and enhance student outcomes.
Requirements:
Qualifications Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or master's program in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, Education, Human Services, or a related field. Interest in higher ed behavioral health, youth development, mental health promotion, and trauma-informed practices. Strong communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
