Job Description Under the direction of the Base Director, the Base Assistant is responsible for assisting with the daily program as it relates to children and their classroom activities. Major emphasis is on program excellence and developing quality care of the highest standard. The Base Assistant will maintain ongoing program continuity by assisting the Base Director to ensure that scheduled program and facility use plans are followed and adheres MSDE regulations and standards. Qualifications Incumbent must be 16 years of age, and must be able to relate to school program staff and parents with a professional and positive attitude. Incumbent must have the ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Essential Functions Assist with implementing unit lesson plans. Assist with implementing daily classroom activity. Ensure parents/guardians sign in and out on a daily basis. Cultivate and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers and parents. Maintain a safe and attractive learning environment. Expand job knowledge and classroom skills on an ongoing basis. Assist with organizing center events (field trips, school pictures, etc.). Perform other tasks related to the operation of the school age center. Knows and follows established childcare policies. The member relations aspect of this position requires that relationship building be the number one priority at all times, attending to the needs and requests of health seekers, members, and all people within the YMCA in a courteous and friendly manner. Attend all required meetings and training. Complete the following training within 30 days of hire: Staff Expectations, First Aid, and CPR and YMCA online training, MSDE aide orientation and Basic Health and Safety. Complete New Employee Orientation within 60 days of hire. Keep all training as required by MSDE or the Hagerstown Y up to date.
