SOUTH LAKE SCHOOLS
Behavior Management Assistant (CI)•Avalon Elementary Work hours: 5 days per week, hours based on student need
Job Goal:
To provide instructional, behavioral, personal care, and social-emotional support to elementary students with cognitive impairments and related disabilities. The Behavior Management Assistant works under the direction of the classroom teacher and related service providers to support student participation in educational activities, implementation of behavior intervention plans, development of independence, and access to the general education environment whenever appropriate. Job Requirements (May include but are not limited to): Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Support with bathrooming, toilet training, diaper changes, etc. Support with transition of students within the classroom and school building; may include use of verbal, gestural, and/or partial physical prompts Assist with snack and lunch; opening containers, preparing water cups, etc., monitor students at tables and with food items Copy, laminate, cut out, organize, and/or distribute instructional materials Support with Augmentative and Alternative Communication needs of students, following directions of CI Teacher and SLP Ability to follow the lead of and work collaboratively with the MiCI Teacher; follow directives provided by the MiCI Teacher Assist with cleaning of toys and furniture after child use Monitor students at recess and/or during specials Help elementary age children on to or off the bus; may include un/buckling, assisting up or down the stairs, etc. Anticipate needs of the MiCI Teacher, students, and classroom transitions CPI training, historical training/experience preferred
Qualifications Include:
High School diploma required; Associates Degree or successful passage of WorkKeys test required. Demonstrated ability to work well with preschool-age children with special needs. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
Employment Conditions:

ADA Requirements:
Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and community agencies. Ability to read, analyze, and prepare reports, evaluations, records, and correspondence. Ability to use computers, district software, and standard office equipment. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout school buildings and grounds for extended periods. Ability to conduct observations, meetings, and student services in a variety of school settings. Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately during behavioral, emotional, or mental health crises. Ability to lift and/or move light to moderate materials and equipment as needed. Ability to travel between district locations and community sites as required. Ability to attend meetings, trainings, and school-related events that may occasionally occur outside the regular workday. Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Terms of Employment:
Class I•5-7 hours per day based on student need

Entrance Level:
