Position Summary:

A Behavior Interventionist at Academic Arts is a student‑centered, relationship‑driven role focused on restorative practices, proactive behavior support, and maintaining a safe, arts‑integrated learning environment. The Behavior Interventionist supports Academic Arts High School's mission by providing targeted behavioral interventions, coaching students in self‑regulation, and collaborating with staff to maintain a positive, inclusive, arts‑infused school climate. This role blends restorative practices, trauma‑responsive approaches, and data‑driven behavior planning to ensure students can fully engage in learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Behavior Support — Provide direct intervention for students exhibiting behavioral, social, or emotional challenges; implement individualized support plans aligned with IEPs, 504s, and MTSS frameworks. Support students within their general education classrooms Restorative Practices — Facilitate restorative conversations, mediations, and circles to repair harm, rebuild relationships, and strengthen community. Crisis Response — Assist with de‑escalation, safety assessments, and crisis stabilization using trauma‑informed strategies. Data Tracking — Collect, analyze, and report behavior data to identify trends, inform interventions, and support schoolwide decision‑making. Collaboration with Staff — Partner with teachers, special education staff, counselors, and administrators to design proactive classroom supports and reinforce consistent expectations. Family Engagement — Communicate with families regarding student behavior, progress, and intervention plans; participate in meetings as needed. School Climate Support — Contribute to hallways, common areas, and school events to maintain a safe, welcoming environment aligned with the school's arts‑integrated culture. Professional Development — Participate in ongoing training related to restorative practices, trauma‑responsive education, PBIS, and culturally sustaining pedagogy.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field . Previous experience working with students with behavioral challenges. Strong understanding of behavior management strategies and interventions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to behavior management in educational settings. CPI, PBIS, or restorative practices training preferred. Strong communication, de‑escalation, relationship‑building, cultural competence, and data documentation skills. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
