Job Description

Job Overview The Shelter Advocate plays a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or crisis situations. This position involves working directly with clients to ensure their safety, well-being, and access to necessary resources. The Shelter Advocate will facilitate a supportive environment while promoting empowerment and self-sufficiency among clients. Duties Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to clients in need. Assist clients in navigating available resources, including housing options, healthcare services, and social services. Maintain accurate records through data collection and file management, ensuring confidentiality of client information. Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all residents. Facilitate workshops or group sessions focused on life skills and house meetings Respond promptly to emergencies within the shelter, utilizing first aid skills as necessary. Assist clients in day-to-day needs Some cleaning Qualifications Certification in First Aid is preferred. Strong skills in crisis intervention and effective communication are essential. A compassionate approach with a commitment to helping individuals in crisis. High school diploma or GED Must pass a background check and drug screen prior to employment The position is an as needed postion with evening to overnight with weekends required. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those facing challenging circumstances.
