Clinic Aide Reports To:
Coordinator of Health Services/ Building Administrator Position Summary The Clinic Aide supports the daily operations of the school health office under the supervision of the school nurse. This position assists in providing basic care to students, maintaining health records, and ensuring a safe and organized clinic environment. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Provide basic first aid and care for ill or injured students under the direction of the school nurse Assist with student check-in/check-out for health-related visits Maintain accurate and confidential student health records Administer medications to students in accordance with district policy and under nurse supervision Act as unlicensed Assistive personnel (UAP) cross-trained to assist with clinic coverage Participate as active member of the building Cardiac Emergency Response Team (CERT) Contact parents/guardians regarding student illness or injury as directed Monitor students in the clinic and ensure a safe environment Maintain inventory of clinic supplies and notify nurse when restocking is needed Assist with health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.) as needed Follow district policies and procedures regarding student health and safety Assist with clinic supply rotation and orders Assist with maintaining a clean, hygienic clinic environment Actively participate in health services professional development and scheduled meetings Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in healthcare, childcare, or school setting preferred CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations Maintain a professional and respectful clinic atmosphere and relationship with all stakeholders Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to [25-50] pounds Ability to stand, use stairs, walk, and assist students as needed Frequent bending, reaching, and sitting Ability to perform chest compressions Working Conditions School clinic/health office environment Frequent interaction with students, staff, and parents Exposure to illness and minor injuries This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
