Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will serve as a compassionate advocate and mentor for individuals navigating substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. Your personal recovery journey and lived experience will empower clients to achieve their goals, foster hope, and build resilience. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of diverse communities through peer support advocacy, crisis management, and recovery-oriented services. Duties Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals working through substance use recovery, and co-occurring disorders Share personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivate clients toward positive change Assist clients in developing coping strategies using harm reduction techniques and motivational interviewing methods Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure safety during urgent situations Support clients in navigating judicial system and treatment court requirements Skills Strong understanding of behavioral health, recovery, addiction and social work principles Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions Excellent client communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly Skilled in crisis management, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques Knowledge of harm reduction strategies, motivational interviewing, and peer support advocacy Ability to share personal recovery experiences responsibly while maintaining professional boundaries Competence in working with culturally diverse populations and adapting approaches accordingly Join us in creating a supportive environment where recovery is possible!
