SAFE in Lenoir County, Inc. is committed to serving victims of Domestic Violence seeking a way out of abuse. SAFE's shelter, located in Lenoir County, serves victims from Lenoir and Greene Counties and beyond. The shelter is staffed 24/7/365 and is open to men, women and their children in all ages and stages of life. We take a holistic approach to helping survivors. With a deep understanding the cycle of violence, our shelter aides are able to meet survivors with compassion, understanding, and empower them to make necessary changes to live violence free lives. We are currently looking for a shelter aide to work 12 hour shifts on nights, weekends, and to fill in as needed to provide service to victims of domestic violence. Duties include answering our hotline, crisis intervention, light cleaning/housekeeping, client assistance/goal setting, completing client intakes, assisting clients with community resources to help them get back on their feet, facilitating group Empowerment classes and Living Skills sessions, and monitoring of the premises.

compassionate, supportive, reliable, non-judgemental, strong communication, problem-solving, team-oriented, organized, patient, safety-focused. The position requires availability during nights and weekends in addition to holidays. In addition to the regular schedule, this position may also be needed to fill in other times, as available, and as needs arise. 20 hours of paid training required each year.
