This full-time, contract opportunity involves working closely with one assigned student, ensuring their safety, growth, and engagement throughout the school day. With three positions available and the possibility to extend through the ESY program in July and August 2027, this role offers both stability and the unique chance to help shape the educational journey of students with diverse needs. What we're looking for: Experience working as a paraprofessional or in a special education support role within school settings Understanding of IEPs, behavior/safety plans, and effective classroom accommodations Familiarity with de-escalation techniques such as NuView's Ukeru and CBI, or willingness to learn Strong observational skills to monitor behavior, safety, and peer interactions Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries at all times Proactive communicator who can collaborate with teachers, clinicians, and administration when extra support is needed Patience, empathy, and dedication to encouraging student independence and emotional regulation Key responsibilities: Stay with the assigned student throughout arrival, academics, specials, meals, transitions, field trips, and dismissal Provide instructional support as directed by the classroom teacher, including prompts, redirection, and accommodations Implement all aspects of the student's individualized plans and established reinforcement systems Respond calmly and effectively to emotional or behavioral challenges, seeking additional help when necessary Collect, document, and report academic and behavioral data accurately Remain with students during teacher planning unless relieved by another staff member Step into a role where your compassion and expertise make a meaningful daily impact!
