Residential Counselor - Residential Services (Union Position)

Our residential programs empower adults living with mental health conditions to achieve greater independence, stability, and quality of life.
Position Overview:
We are currently hiring a Residential Counselor to join our Residential Services team. In this vital role, you will support adult clients living in supervised group homes by assisting with daily routines, health and wellness needs, and community integration. The Residence Counselor plays a key role in promoting independence and ensuring a safe, supportive living environment.
Schedule:
Full-Time, Part Time Flexible Hours Key Responsibilities:
Support clients with daily living skills (cooking, cleaning, hygiene, budgeting) Monitor and document client medication self-administration Provide transportation and accompany clients to appointments Maintain clear and timely documentation and shift logs Participate in staff meetings, training, and treatment planning Respond to crises and ensure safety protocols are followed Act as Primary Counselor for assigned clients, providing individualized support Assist with holiday/birthday planning, special events within the home Support clients in building social skills and fostering meaningful community engagement Observe and communicate any behavioral or health-related changes to supervisors to ensure appropriate follow-up
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required) Experience in behavioral health or residential services preferred Valid NJ Driver's License (required) Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Rate:
In accordance with the Union Collective Bargaining Agreement, starting at $15.49 per hour , with additional hourly compensation based on years of experience. Overtime may be available but is not guaranteed.
