Job Description

Position Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide nursing assistance care with the support of the clinical team members and your supervisor. This position delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. The Mental Health Assistant is part of the treatment team and works towards meeting the needs of the patient and supporting the treatment goals and objectives. This position provides quality customer service, participates in performance improvement initiatives, and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Functions in an organized, time conscious manner to complete assigned duties. Follows guidelines of duties as assigned. Is knowledgeable about patient conditions that are common in the care process of behavioral health patients. Provides care that ensures that patients are free from abuse, mistreatment and neglect. Reports any such instances to the Licensed Nurses in accordance with facilities policies and procedures. Provides assistance with dining services and patients with eating, monitor intake or output as needed. Observes patient progress and reports change of conditions in patient health to the licensed nurse on duty. Assures that bed linens are changed, patient clothing is laundered, and rooms are neat. Provides toileting and incontinence care, reports if irritation skin irritation develops. Assists and encourages patients in activities of daily living such as bathing, eating, dressing, ambulating, and attending group therapy. Escorts patients to group, court, clinic runs, and Emergency Room. Takes and records blood pressure and temperatures. Monitors and reports the patients' physical and mental health status. Reports changes in patient physical and mental conditions to the Registered Nurse and Licensed Independent Practitioner as requested by the Administrator and /or the Director of Nursing. Assist in the implementation of survey plans of correction. Performs duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, as necessary. Participates in the Process Improvement activities
Qualifications:
CPR Certification required within one month of hire. Flu Vaccine is Mandatory Fit testing is Mandatory Every other
Weekend Required Experience:
6 months to 1 year of Behavioral Health experience preferred.
