Job Description
Unit Clerk Inpatient Behavioral Health Northbrook Behavioral Health Hospital.

- 3:30pm Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the primary administrative support for the inpatient behavioral health unit Treat patients and staff in a professional, compassionate, and respectful manner Answer phone calls; take and relay messages accurately and promptly Maintain patient charts and electronic medical records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality Order and stock unit supplies; monitor inventory levels Prepare forms, reports, and documentation required for regulatory compliance Communicate effectively with nursing staff, providers, and interdisciplinary team members Adhere to HIPAA and all hospital policies, safety standards, and infection-control procedures Support a calm, organized, and therapeutic unit environment Perform other clerical or administrative duties as assigned Qualifications•Required High school diploma or GED Minimum of 1 year of clerical or administrative experience (healthcare preferred) Basic computer proficiency, including electronic medical record (EMR) systems Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment Professional demeanor and ability to interact effectively with individuals experiencing mental health challenges Qualifications•Preferred Previous experience in a behavioral health inpatient hospital setting Knowledge of medical terminology Experience with patient registration or unit coordination Familiarity with state and federal healthcare regulations Skills and Competencies Attention to detail and accuracy Time management and prioritization Compassionate and trauma-informed communication Ability to work effectively under pressure Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills Flexibility to adapt to changing unit needs Physical and Work Environment Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive clerical tasks Occasional lifting of office or unit supplies Work performed in a secure inpatient behavioral health environment #advertise
