UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of Jersey is seeking a per diem Mental Health Specialist IV for the Acute Psychiatric Services ( APS)

The primary purpose of the per diem Mental Health Specialist IV is to provide services which support the delivery of clinical services in the Unit. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Provides telephone coverage for the unit. Assists screening staff in greeting consumers when they arrive onsite five (5) minutes after arrival and escorts them back to the unit. Assists Public Safety in their search for consumers and belongings when they are admitted to the Extended Care Evaluation Bed (ECEB) area. Assists in the provision of direct care for individuals in the ECEB. Maintains appropriate client records in a timely manner as mandated by Center policy. Assists in managing the transfer of consumers into and out of the Unit. Assists consumers and/or families in the completion of registration paperwork as required. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all consumers, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment. An Associate Degree, preferably in a related field, including 12 credits in human services, such as psychology or its equivalent, may be substituted for the minimum requirements of this position. Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must possess adequate written and verbal skills to perform the job duties. Ability to document in an electronic medical record and in Microsoft Word. Preferred Qualifications Ability to enter information into a database and to use the Rutgers UBHC registration software to enter needed information with accuracy.
